Autism
Autism / ASD / Asperger / Kanner
Autism is a developmental disorder whose origin has multiple causes, including genetics. The way in which this disorder is approached is still accompanied by heated debates resulting from conceptual disagreements. There are several categories or types of autism, collectively known as Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). There are therefore different forms of autism: some affect children with a normal IQ, others where language limitations and social interaction problems are less prevalent (known as Asperger's Syndrome), or in the form known as "Kanner's autism" where symptoms are visible before the age of 3 years. Each child actually has an individual form of autism, some will be independent right into adulthood, others will need constant support. Generally we find a lack of physical contact, visual, communication, reduced or no interaction with other children, a fascination for certain objects. The regularity of the treatment and the different therapies put in place allow the development of the capacities specific to each individual, depending on the disabilities present and the position on the autistic spectrum.
