Antisocial personality

Antisocial personality / Dyssociality / Sociopathy / Psychopathy

This is a personality disorder characterised by non-compliance with commonly accepted rules, laws and social norms, even if the behaviour harms others or oneself. Sociopaths also fail to take into consideration the legal consequences of their actions, are indifferent to the cultural codes, emotions and rights of others. Often very self-confident or even arrogant, people with this type of personality exhibit irresponsible, aggressive or irritable behaviour, are impulsive and show no remorse, but indifference or even coldness towards others. This disorder implies a limited ability to feel human emotions and therefore suffering, with a lack of empathy. Interpersonal relationships are unstable, with a tendency to manipulation. Sociopaths have limited tolerance for frustration and blame others. The terms psychopathy, sociopathy and antisocial are controversial, some practitioners identify differences between the disorders each term represents, yet all are part of a psychiatric diagnosis of dyssocial personality.
