The results of the research program “Retrovirus & Psychotic Disorders” set up between the University of Zurich and the University Hospital of Créteil (France) were presented at the annual Congress of the Schizophrenia International Research Society – SIRS, last April in Florence. As a reminder, this study led to the identification of a specific active endogenous retrovirus present in the blood of patients with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, opening the way to the development of promising therapeutic innovations. These results were published in 2021 in Translational Psychiatry (Nature group).

Once again, funding from Fondation FondaMental Suisse has confirmed the interest of a scientific track that now can be developed. Allowing this step is exactly the interest and the goal of the seed projects financed by the foundation.
