Born in 1949, he began his career as a journalist on the RMC radio station before joining RTL. Permanent Special Envoy to the United States, he then became editor-in-chief of RTL and economic editorialist. On 24 April 1988, alongside Michèle Cotta, he presented the televised debate between François Mitterrand and Jacques Chirac during the second round of the presidential election.

Elie Vannier then became diversification director of the Strafor-Facom metallurgical group, before being appointed general manager of Morgan’s French subsidiary, Grenfell & Co. and an associate director in London.

In 1997, he joined Grand Vision’s optical group, where he held various positions, including Chief Executive Officer. Elie Vannier has been president and director of several companies, including Promod, Delsey, Famar, Flamel Technologies and Ingénico.

At the same time, he was professor at the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Science Po), teaching “Strategy and International Business Development” and President of the French Centre for Corporate Governance Studies. Elie Vannier is Visiting Professor at Peking University (School of Transnational Law), Beijing, China.
